I'd like to see what the general position is on here before I put in my two cents, but I'd like to ask a couple basic questions
  1. What is the cause of transgenderedness (for lack of a better word) and/or transexuality? (Is it social, biological, etc)
  2. What does it mean to be a "man trapped in a woman's body" or a "woman trapped in a man's body"? (The answer to this may be closely related to the question above)

I would have more to ask, but I don't want to really push too hard towards any given interpretation or presume the answers to the first two questions I'm asking, so I'll save them for later.

i think it is just when someone feels like they do not belong to the sex they were born into, and now in our lives we have the chance to change that and become who we want to be.
It is a shame there is still prdjudice, even among communists, but i for one hope this absurd bigotry will soon be wiped out
Didn't native Americans have the concept of "two-spirit" or the idea of the female spirit trapped in a man's body and vice-versa. I think these people have psychological problems a lot of the time which clouds the issue. These psychological problems are caused by society's view of them. Personally if someone wants to "change" that's up to them, but I do think it is sad that due to society- example in Italy, many trans are forced into a seedy world of prostitution and drugs because there is no alternative employment for which they will be accepted.
